Dr. Uricchio was raised in suburban Philadelphia. He attended Lehigh University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in the School of Engineering. He subsequently received his M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine graduating in1983. His internship and residency occurred at New England Medical Center, the Tufts teaching hospital in Boston. A fellowship in cardiology followed at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania finishing in 1989.

Dr. Uricchio entered private practice as an interventional cardiologist at Hahnemann University Hospital and Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia. Work at both hospitals involved teaching responsibility. In 2000, he moved to Frankford Torresdale Hospital in Northeast Philadelphia. Dr. Uricchio was involved in starting three physician practices and one billing company during his time in Philadelphia. He was president of Delaware Valley Cardiology Group and Pennsylvania Heart and Vascular Group for 15 years and was cardiac catheterization laboratory director for 14 years.

Dr. Uricchio began working for Cardiosolution of Cincinnati, Ohio in 2015. Cardiosolution provides general and interventional cardiologists to rural hospitals in the United States. While currently practicing general cardiology, Dr. Uricchio will continue to be involved in quality assurance in interventional cardiology for Cardiosolution hospitals. As of 10/12/20, Dr. Uricchio is working at Bay Area Heart in Webster, TX practicing noninvasive cardiology in the outpatient setting.

Dr. Uricchio lives with his wife of 40 years on Galveston Bay in Texas . He has two children in Texas and Pennsylvania. In his free time, he enjoys windsurfing, bike riding, and computer programming
